X-Factor winner sings carols in Stroud
Saturday 14th December.
Classical crossover star Mary-Jess Leaverland sang carols almost unnoticed in Stroud High Street. Winner of the Chinese X-Factor, Mary-Jess, 23, added her hit notes to the seasonal fund raising in aid of The Door Youth Project.
Volunteers including Door patron Mary-Jess and young people from the project raised £520 with their effort, he said.
Earlier in the month Mary-Jess was more up front, however, when she drew the crowds to a Christmas concert in aid of The Door at St Matthew’s Church in Cainscross.
Talents from The Door’s Undiscovered Youth contest performed too, with Stroud Symphony Orchestra also engaging the crowd. Mary-Jess presented songs from her album Shine and the special evening collected more than £500 for the Christian based Door’s counselling and training work with local youngsters.
