My trip to Number 10 Downing Street!

Downing Street was amazing! What an experience!

Robert and I arrived and went through airport style security and in to Downing Street. It felt rather surreal and very quiet. We had our pictures taken out side the door before heading in. In side, it was a rabbit warren of lots of individual rooms and climbing spiral staircases. I never expected it to be so big!

It was really interesting being show round all the rooms as there are little bits of history in each one. We got to see Churchill's favourite chair, four tiny bits of moon rock set in plastic as a gift from America, from Chilli there is the note that the miners sent up saying that 33 of them were still alive down in the mines from the mining disaster. We were also shown a few of the little signs that past Prime Ministers have left behind to show that they've been there. Tony Blair left some little bees on some of the book shelves and Margaret Thatcher made an ornate little man over one of the doors look like he's thatching a roof.

It was a great experience, incredibly interesting and I felt so lucky to be able to see behind the famous Number 10 door that you always see on the TV.

Here are a couple of pictures of us in front of the door…
