I had a wonderful time at The GREAT Festival of Creativity in Shanghai! Robert Emery and I flew over together and had only a couple of hours in the hotel before heading out to the premier of Paddington the movie. I walked down the red carpet to a chorus of flashing cameras and then went inside to get ready to meet HRH Prince William. It was an honour to meet him and he was so lovely; he showed genuine interest in my career and asked about speaking and singing in Chinese as well as what it was like on the show that I won. Here are a few pictures from the premier:
The next day was the day of my performance. I was going to be singing 春天的芭蕾 (Spring Ballet), Are You the Way Home from my debut album Shine, Pocket of My Heart (one of my most recent compositions) and Let It Go from Frozen in both English and Mandarin. I was really looking forward to my performance because I was the very last performer, so I was closing the whole event which felt like a wonderful compliment and made me feel even more excited about performing.
I am still waiting on the official photographs from the event as well as the footage, but the photo on the right is a little preview for you. >
After my performance, Robert and I walked around the room to talk to the 800 English and Chinese delegates. We received some lovely compliments, and even an invitation to Number 10 Downing Street in April which I am really looking forward to!
Thank you so much to Sarah Butterfield, David Willetts, Matt Burney, Matthew Forbes, Conrad Bird, UKTI, The British Council, and the UK Government for inviting Robert and I out to China and for putting on such a wonderful event. I look forward to many more in the future!
